The record
East Sussex Fire Brigade took two HCB-Angus-bodied Series IIA 109 Land Rovers in 1970: UPM 350H, an L4P light pump for Uckfield and later Crowborough, and its sister UPM 349H, built as a light rescue tender and stationed at Haywards Heath to carry cutting and lifting gear to road accidents on the A23 and A272. In later life 349H was converted into a lighting unit, its roof floodlights serving night incidents from brigade headquarters at Lewes.
