The record

HM Coastguard's rescue teams around the UK coast moved from Land Rover Series and Defender station wagons to a standardised fleet of Defender 130 double cabs through the 2000s, the crew cab seating a team of volunteers and the bed carrying a purpose-built equipment box for cliff, mud and water rescue gear. With the Maritime and Coastguard Agency's adoption of the national emergency-service battenburg scheme the vehicles gained yellow and blue chequer along the sides, yellow bonnets and roofs for visibility from the air, and COAST GUARD in yellow with a blue outline on the doors.

The Flickr photograph shows a fresh example on the Coastguard stand at the NEC Emergency Services Show in September 2015: white 130 double cab, yellow bonnet with mirror-written HM COASTGUARD, yellow roof with a blue light bar, two-row battenburg along the doors and rear body, the white equipment box lettered SEARCH AND RESCUE with the coastguard crest, black wheel-arch eyebrows and white steel wheels. The registry model reproduces that vehicle on the Defender 130 double cab.
