Norfolk Police Santana PS-10

Santana Motor of Linares had built Land Rovers under licence since 1961, and when the licence ended it kept the layout and developed its own vehicle from it. The PS-10 — sold at home as the Aníbal — was shown in 2002 and reached the market in the years that followed: a Series-derived leaf-and-coil 4×4 with an Iveco 2.8-litre common-rail diesel, a flush front with paired round headlamps in body-colour panels and a single-piece bowed windscreen, on 90 and 110-inch wheelbases in station wagon, pickup, double-cab and soft-top forms. A small number came to Britain in right-hand drive as a cheaper alternative to the Defender, before Santana's collapse in 2011 ended the line (the last version was rebadged as the Iveco Massif).

AO52 UXW is one of the British ones: a 110 station wagon registered to Norfolk Constabulary in the 2002–03 registration year, photographed by UK Emergency Vehicles at a public display. It is a deliberately low-key vehicle. There is no light bar, no beacon and no Battenburg; the only markings are a blue POLICE band flanked by blue-and-white chequer blocks on each front door, the force crest and the 'Keeping Norfolk Safe' strapline beneath it, POLICE in blue on the bonnet, and a black bumper carrying an A-frame nudge bar with the registration on its centre. The photographer's own caption notes the absence of blue lights and the minimal livery. What the constabulary used it for is not recorded; a rural force's unmarked-looking 4×4 of this kind is typically a rural-beat, wildlife-crime or estate vehicle rather than a response car. How many Santanas Norfolk ran, and the vehicle's fate, are not known from the source.
