The record
Rossi's has sold ice cream on the Norfolk coast around Hemsby for generations, and like other beach concessions it relies on Land Rovers to reach customers on the soft sand. UPJ 934M is a 1974 Series III 109 with the 2.25-litre four-cylinder engine, carrying a coachbuilt ice cream body behind its standard cab: a tall rounded box with a large serving window and menu boards on the nearside, signs for Rossi's Ice Cream and freshly made Whippy ice cream, and a livery of white with a pink bonnet, grille surround, wheel arches and stripes. Photographers have recorded it on Hemsby Beach and at Caister-on-Sea repeatedly between 2015 and 2025, so it remains at work more than fifty years after it was built. Its coachbuilder is not recorded.
The registry's model keeps the Series III 109 cab and front, with the bonnet and radiator panel in pink, and adds the box body, serving window, pink eyebrows and bands, signs and plates from the photographs.
