The Marine Policing Unit is the Metropolitan Police Service's river force, based at Wapping and responsible for the tidal Thames through London. Alongside its launches and rigid inflatables it runs a small number of four-wheel-drive vehicles for slipway work, towing boat trailers, foreshore searches and recovering craft and equipment from the river's edge, where a winch and low-range gearing matter more than a marked livery.
