The record
The Essen Motor Show each December mixes tuning, classics and promotional builds, and among the exhibits in 2015 was a Series III 109 hard top made over as a beer bar. Painted the dark bottle green of the Jever brewery's branding, with Jever roundels on its doors, it had a stainless-steel bumper carrying a winch, a spare wheel and wooden slats on the bonnet, a chequer-plate roof rack with two spot lamps, black steel wheels on white-lettered all-terrain tyres and, on the right-hand side of the rear body, a wooden serving counter that folds down on ropes to reveal a shelf of bottles inside. Dennis Matthies photographed it on the show stand; the exhibitor and the vehicle's build history are not recorded.
The registry's model is the Series III 109 hard top in Jever green with the stainless bumper and winch, bonnet slats, roof rack and lamps, folding counter and bottle shelf, roundels and a German plate from the photograph.
