The CAV 100 'Snatch' is the composite-armoured Land Rover 110 developed for Northern Ireland, its Courtaulds Aerospace glass-reinforced-plastic hull giving a patrol crew protection against small arms, blast and thrown missiles while staying on a Land Rover chassis. When Britain contributed troops to the United Nations Protection Force in Bosnia from late 1992, Snatches went with them, repainted in the UN's white with black UN lettering so that they read as peacekeeping vehicles rather than combat ones.
The vehicle modelled here was photographed by Bob Morrison in 1993 and appears in Joint Forces' Military Land Rovers series: white overall with UN across the bonnet and on each side of the rear armour, wire-mesh guards over the grille, headlamps and door windows against stone-throwing, the Army registration 32 KK 43 on a black plate and a white UNPF (UN Protection Force) plate, 40785, on the bumper, a whip aerial and a stowage box on the roof. The registry keeps the Army's later electronic counter-measures boxes and roof dome off, as the 1993 vehicle carried none.
